Younes Aichiouene
Freshman, Bass
If ever you were to travel to a desolate town, they would tell you legends of a man of mystery that would come and grace them with gifts every generation. The same story pops up all over the Western United States. A man of mystery, with a low yet soothing voice would appear wearing a dark hood to conceal his identity, and leave behind riches and new technology.
Different towns came up with different names for the man. Some called him The Gift Bearer, others, The Gracious One, and some towns that he visited during the winter would even mistake him for Santa Claus. City goers never believed the stories. How could a man appear and reappear every sixty years and not change a bit? What could his motives possibly be? Surely no creature has that amount of kindness within his own heart.
At one of our gigs near Boulder, the older gentleman who hired us told us this legend. We became instantly intrigued. Would he be so kind as to ever come and sing with us? We could only hope and dream
The very next semester, our dreams would come true. As we congregated in our suits on campus, a mysterious hooded figure approached us. With a low and smooth tone he offered a friendly “Hello.” We couldn’t believe our eyes or our ears, and we fell to our knees, begging him to sing with us. He lowered his hood, and with a bright smile said that he would love to, and from then on he has been a Buffoon.
He later introduced himself as Younes, a name that sits above all of his legendary titles. We can only hope that his low bass voice will continue to soothe us and our audiences for years to come, but we all know that one day he must return to his generous lifestyle.
